October is Respect Life Month. What a per-
fect time to have a Pin Day in your church as
part of your Knight’s Pro-Life promotion. It is
simple, educates your parishioners and raises
funds for your Pro-Life efforts. All in five min-
utes! You simply have Knights speak during
the Masses on abortion. You don’t have to
speak long. A powerful five minute speech is
worth a weak twenty minute one! (see www.

The next step is crucial
to your success! Instead
of setting up a display
of Precious Feet and
Hands in the back, pass
a basket, person to per-
son - just like anoffering
plate. When we did this
in our local churches
for our Pregnancy Care
Center, we put a divider
in the baskets - in one
half there were Precious Feet - the other side
was empty. Before we passed the baskets we
said, “If you would like to help save babies,
take a pair of Precious Feet and wear them all
of the time. If you believe in what we are do-
ing, you can help us by giving a donation.”
An amazing thing happens when you use
this basket approach. If I had placed the Pre-
cious Feet display on a back table, few people
would have actually stopped. But because
the basket passes right in front of them, peo-
ple take Precious Feet. If I had asked for only
$2.00 each that is all I would have gotten. Be-
cause I asked for a donation, I got $5’s, $10’s,
and $20’s. Between three of us, we spoke a

total of 10 times. We distributed close to 400
Precious Feet. The churches were small, yet
we collected $2,400! For a small town with a
small center, this was amazing!
Another Pregnancy Distress Center had a Pin
Day at their local churches that focused on
getting a pin in the hands of all the parishio-
ners and this is what they wrote about their
success:
“How does PIN DAY work? During one or more
regularly scheduled church meeting(s), a PDC
representative will share
with the congregation
for five minutes. After
the service the volun-
teer will freely distribute
Precious Feet Pins, the
International Pro-Life
Symbol. Under the di-
rection of the Pastor,
church members will be
given an opportunity to
give a donation to the work at the Pregnancy
Distress Center. We will also have information
available on other ways to help meet the needs
of our clients.
The project received a terrific response from
churches last year. We were able to share the
ministry and the needs of PDC in 45 churches,
distribute 5,000 Precious Feet Pins and raise
$9,000!”
